Can’t wait for all the MRAs to moan that there isn’t International Men’s Day, REALLY CAN’T WAIT.
commonorgarden asked: Okay so don't close BBC Three, whatever, but can you leave off BBC Four a bit? It's just doing its thing, don't blame it for being a niche channel.
I would fight them to the death on closing BBC4 too, but I’m so so tired of people with a faux-sense of superiority about BBC4 compared to BBC3, it’s this quintessential middle class smugness about how their middle class stuff is better than the rest of us
it’s exactly like Michael Gove trying to make kids do debate club and orchestra because they’re nice middle class things only it’s about telly, it’s one step below “oooh I don’t even have a TV”
look, I’ve got a degree, I’ve watched The Killing, I also have really strong opinions about Hollyoaks and I listen to trashy pop music, people aren’t lesser or deserving of being looked down on because they watch reality tv or pop documentaries or they don’t have Nick Cave on repeat - even my dad listens to Taylor Swift while he’s reading about Marxist feminism
a public service broadcaster is should cater to everyone and shutting down the only youth orientated channel alienates the future supporters of the BBC, and the BBC are making it increasingly difficult to defend them
when we say “put up posters of women you think are inspirational for women’s history month! :)” we don’t mean “take the piss by putting up ‘joke’ posters of your male friend, just so you can yet again abuse and degrade an important conversation whilst continuing to ignore women’s history”
